The Middle East Academy for Medicine of Ageing announces
the second advanced postgraduate course in geriatrics
for the years 2008/2009. The first session will take place
in Tripoli Lebanon April April 3 - 6, 2008: Principals
of Geriatrics & Gerontology.
Establishment of MENAR - Middle East Network on
Ageing Research MENAR
The aim of the MENAR is to develop Geriatrics
and Gerontology Research in the area, in particular to
do the following:
- To build of the aging research network
to fulfil unmet research need.
- To do collaborative research within
the area, and with other networks.
- To lobby for financial support for
research in the Aging field from different organisations.
- To help in the development of research
training programmes, and the professional development
of family physicians/researchers.
- To organise conferences that deals
with research in Ageing.
- To establish a number of experts from
a multidisciplinary background to act as advisors and
mentors.
- To help in publication of research
studies from the region.
- To foster collaboration between individual
physicians , centres and countries within the Region.
- To help in the exchange of ideas and
methodologies in the area.

Development of Interactive Educational
Resource on Quality Care of the Aged
An interactive multimedia CD ROM is being developed,
in conjunction with MEAMA, as a global (? regional
) resource focusing on the Quality Care of the Aged.
This QA&CPD accredited title will offer case based
interactive education, as well as a suite of educational
resources including video, animation and guidelines. This
CD is due for release August 2006.
